How To Enter:
Have fun winning extra money to help pay college expenses while testing your knowledge of financial topics related to paying for college, credit, and budgeting. RISLA’s Knowledge for College Scholarship provides a chance for Rhode Island Residents and/or students attending a college or university in Rhode Island to win scholarship funds.

Eligibility Requirements:
Student is a Rhode Island resident or student from any state attending a college or university in Rhode Island; and is accepted for and provides validation of enrollment at nationally accredited 2-year or 4-year, university, or postsecondary proprietary school when the scholarship is awarded.

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers renewable, four-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a sustained commitment to serving others (in school, in the community or at home), a consistent history of part-time work, a display of maturity and skills if faced with a challenge, and leadership qualities.

The Westerly Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship was established in 1973 to provide scholarship assistance to individuals seeking education or training for a career in any area of human health care.

The Red Sox Foundation’s New England Service Scholarship initiative recognizes graduating high school seniors across New England who are making a meaningful impact through service in their local communities by awarding them a $1,000 college scholarship. In addition to the scholarship, recipients will participate in a service project in Boston before being honored on the field at Fenway Park before the Friday, June 30th game against the Washington Nationals at 7:10pm.

John Geremia was a beloved brother, son, father, uncle, and friend who passed away too soon in 2021.

John was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was dedicated to his craft. He spent his professional life giving back to others and would have wanted to leave behind a legacy of service for those following in his footsteps.

Being a lineman played a pivotal role in shaping John's life, providing him with a sense of purpose and accomplishment. This scholarship aims to honor his memory by supporting students who are pursuing careers in the trades.

Any high school senior or trade school student who is pursuing the trades may apply for this scholarship, but aspiring linemen or electrical workers are preferred.

The John & Betty MacLean Memorial Scholarship was created in the 100th Anniversary year of the Scottish-American Society of Rhode Island to commemorate their contributions to the Society’s mission to promote Scottish culture. John MacLean was an educator in the City of Warwick for many years, and served as the Department Head of the Social Studies Department at Pilgrim High School. John and Betty each served the Society in many capacities and our organization would not be what it is today without their tireless efforts as champions of the Scottish culture.

This one-time $1000 award is available to a Rhode Island resident High School Senior.

On an annual basis, the Washington County Fair selects two High School Seniors to award each with a $2,500 scholarships. Applicants for the awards must meet the requirements listed below. Applications will be reviewed and awarded by a scholarship committee made up of Fair Committee Members.

- 4H Member

- FFA Member

The alumni of the Chariho Class of 1976 are celebrating our 50th class reunion this year. We were known as “The Spirit of ‘76”. We recognize that being enrolled and graduating from CHS gave us the base we needed to help us make good career choices, bringing us to where we are today, 50 years later. The Roth Memorial Scholarship is primarily for a student that has lost a person in their immediate family during their high school years. The Rhode Island Antique Tractor Club is offering a $500 scholarship for the 2026 academic year to a local student who plans on furthering their education either in college or some type of vocational training.  We believe in the importance of keeping history alive with antique tractors and farm equipment, the rural character of agriculture in south county Rhode Island. A student going into a field of some type of agriculture or a related field would be preferred.

Eligibility Requirements: The 1SG P. Andrew McKenna, Jr. Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating High School Senior in Rhode Island. The applicant must be a legal U.S. Citizen, a resident of the State of Rhode Island, who has been accepted into an accredited two or four year college or university as a full time student. He or she must have demonstrated academic excellence with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The applicant must also meet one or more of the following criteria: - A member of the JROTC / ROTC - A member of their High School Track/Cross Country Team for at least 2 years - Has a parent/guardian, grandparent or sibling who is actively serving in the U.S. Armed Forces - Has a parent/guardian, grandparent or sibling who served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces.

All applicants must include one letter of recommendation from a Head Coach, Assistant Coach or teacher that details your character as a person and/or an athlete.

The Sylvia Overend Memorial Scholarship was established to honor Sylvia Dobson Overend, a Chariho Middle School teacher and middle school Drama Club advisor, who passed away in 2019 from a rare form of Leukemia.

She took great pride in the CMS Drama Club, building it into an organization that grew in numbers every year, with Sylvia directing larger and larger productions. She had a knack for get young actors to come out of their shell, and project confidence in their performances. In addition to her love of the theater, Mrs. Overend had a passion for singing. She was a member of the Christ Church Choir, and a former member of the Chorus of Westerly.

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded each year- one to a graduating Senior member of the CHS Drama Club, and one to a graduating Senior member of the CHS Chorus, who plan on furthering their education after graduating. Only one application per student (you cannot apply for both). Applications will be due annually on April 17th (Sylvia’s birthday!) and will be presented at the annual Scholarship Awards night.

The Barry J. Ricci Memorial Scholarship is funded through a generous donation from the Ricci family.

The Barry J. Ricci Memorial Scholarship is open to any Chariho Regional High School Senior pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree at an accredited school, college or university. Priority will be given to students going into a field that is focused on helping others (i.e. education, social work, nursing, psychology, law). Up to two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded.

Sponsored by the Touro Synagogue Foundation, the Aaron and Rita Slom Scholarship Fund for Freedom and Diversity will provide a minimum of two college scholarships for high school seniors.  Students interested in applying will submit an interpretive written work focusing on the George Washington Letter to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport in context with present time. The KWAOR Foundation, Inc., the charitable arm of the Kent Washington Association of REALTORS® is offering a $1,000 scholarship.

This scholarship is open to any full-time senior during the Fall and Spring of 2025/2026, attending a Kent County or Washington County high school and resides in either the Kent County or Washington County in the State of RI.

This scholarship is based on a combination of financial need, scholastics, and extra-curricular activities.

The Ann Hall Memorial Scholarship is funded through a generous donation of the Fogarty Center.

The Ann Hall Memorial Scholarship is open to any Chariho Regional High School Senior pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree at an accredited school, college or university. Scholarships are available to students enrolled at Chariho Regional High School, Narragansett High School, South Kingstown High School, and Westerly High Schools; who have been accepted to a Marine Science or Fisheries program in an institute of higher learning. Preference may be given toward financial need, and to those interested in pursuing their careers in the state of Rhode Island.

RIMS will award scholarships to two individuals. Each award is in the amount of $1,000.00, and will be paid directly to the school or college of the recipient’s choice upon providing proof of enrollment satisfactory to RIMS.

One (1) Merrill Moone Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing post-secondary education at a vocational, trades or technical school.
One (1) G. Stuart "Stu" Douglas Scholarship will be awarded to a Chariho student pursuing a degree in a medical or health-related field.  Each scholarship value is $1500 per selected student for each year* of their post-secondary education. 

*Each year awardees will need to reapply, meet the criteria of continued community service, and be in good academic standing.

The Chariho Centennial Lions Club Scholarship Fund seeks to encourage and reward local students for their active community service. The applicant must be a graduating senior of Chariho Regional High School.

The scholarship can be used by the student to pay for education expenses at a two or four-year college or a vocational program. The Chariho Centennial Lions Club Scholarship Fund was established with fundraising efforts and donations to the Chariho Centennial Lions Club.

The club is extremely pleased to be offering two $1000 scholarships this year.

Mr. Kenyon was a dedicated Deputy Chief of the Dunn’s Corners Fire Department and an active member of the community. He played a key role in founding The Karl E. Kenyon Smokey Bear Parade, which continues to grow each year on the third Thursday in July, bringing together more Fire and EMS departments and attracting larger crowds. Beyond his service, Mr. Kenyon was a mentor, sharing his expertise in firefighting with both community members and department personnel. He was always willing to help and

answer any questions.

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be pursuing a career in Fire Science or the EMS field after completing high school.

The Steven P. Follett Jr. Memorial Scholarship is a non-profit organization in memory of Steven.  He was a young man who lost his life at a young age in a boating accident.  Steven was well-known and respected in his community.  He was an Eagle Scout, and his love for the ocean and his family was what Steven respected in life.
The organization will provide a $3000 scholarship to a student from South Kingstown, Chariho, and Narragansett pursuing an education majoring in Marine Studies.  Please complete the attached application and bring it to your School Counselor by May 1, 2026.

Michael Alan Johnson was a wonderful and compassionate person. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. One of the things he loved most in life was music. Playing his guitar and listening to his favorite music brought him enjoyment and comfort. Michael was only 18 years old when he died. He would be very happy and proud to know that through this scholarship he is helping another person accomplish his or her dream.

To honor Michael’s memory, his family and friends have established this scholarship to be awarded to a high school senior who is pursuing a career in music or art. Students who have been involved with the music or art programs during their years at Chariho High School but are not pursuing a career in these areas will also be eligible.

Charity Lodge No. 23 Free & Accepted Masons will award scholarships to selected graduating seniors of Chariho High School and/or Vocational Technical School who plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical training institute.  Applicants must be residents of Charlestown, Richmond or Hopkinton. Selection is based upon active community involvement, financial need and academic achievement.

The Charlestown Chamber of Commerce annually awards (2) one thousand dollar ($1000.00) scholarships to Senior Students. Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following requirements:

1. Year-round residency in the Chariho (Charlestown, Richmond, Hopkinton) area, with preference given to Charlestown residents.
2. Acceptance and attendance at an accredited school of higher education.
3. Demonstration of merit, financial need and community service.

The Jason Douglas Foreman Scholarship is being offered in the amount of $1,000.00. Applicant must be accepted to a two-year or four-year college, junior college or university program of study, a trade school, apprenticeship program, or other institution or training program as may be accepted by the Jason Douglas Foreman Memorial Scholarship Foundation's Board of Directors. Priority will be given (but not limited) to students who enroll in a trade or technical program of instruction, or equivalent.

Eligibility: Applicant must be a full-time resident of the Town of South Kingstown or the Town of Narragansett, or other community in Rhode Island as approved on a case basis by the Board of Directors.

The Hallie Linacre Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Hallie Linacre who passed away in her sleep from Sudden Cardiac Death on May 8th, 2020. Hallie was a 2017 graduate of Chariho High School and was entering her Senior year at Nichols College double majoring in Accounting and Finance. Hallie was loving, kind and a true leader in her classes and on the soccer field. She was committed to honoring her best friend Maddie Potts, by setting up fundraisers at Nichols and raising money for the Maddie Potts Foundation. We are so pleased to offer 3 scholarships to Chariho seniors in the amount of $1137.

FISHERIES and MARINE SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP:  This scholarship is awarded to any Rhode Island resident high school senior, who will attend either. University of Rhode Island or Roger Williams University,  in a fisheries or marine science program, within one year.

MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP:  This scholarship is awarded to. any good-standing member of the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association,  or their immediate family, specifically, their children or stepchildren, grandchildren, brother or sister, or stepbrother or stepsister, who is currently a high school senior and will attend ANY college or university within one year.

The NEA Chariho Scholarship is funded through the generous donations of the faculty and staff of the Chariho School District.

Include a letter of recommendation from a teacher, an employer, or another adult and have your guidance counselor include a copy of your transcript. The evaluation of this application will encompass academics, extra- curricular activities and financial need.

The Maddie Potts Foundation was established in November of 2017, less than 2 months after Maddie's sudden death on the Chariho soccer field of an unknown brain aneurysm. Maddie exemplified all attributes that a student athlete should possess. She always led by example, and dedicated her free time to helping her teammates, fellow art students and all others around her to be the very best they could be. She stood up for and reached out to new students/teammates that were not as likely to be able to stand up for themselves.  The Maddie Potts Foundation was founded in order to carry on Maddie's legacy of kindness, compassion, hard work, inclusive leadership and perseverance, aka Maddie Mentality. 

The Maddie Potts Foundation will present two $1,100.00 scholarships this year. The criteria for these scholarships and application is attached.

The cover sheet must be attached to your application and returned to your school counselor by 2:15pm on May 11th 2026. No late or incomplete applications will be accepted. A committee comprised of the Potts family members will review all applications and make the final decision in awarding the scholarships.

This fund has been established in memory of Roger B. Chapman, a teacher at the Career & Technical Center from 1976-1988. Each year the fund will grant one or more annual scholarship to CTC students who wish to pursue further studies in electronics.  If no CTC student qualifies in a given year, scholarships may be awarded to Chariho High School students who wish to further studies in Electrical Engineering, Writing, Photography, Marine Biology, or Marine Technology. Recipients may apply for three additional grants in successive years of continuing education.

Stephen McGuire dreamed of owning his own company. Over the years, he imagined himself running a pizza shop, a bakery, a painting company, and even a window cleaning business. While he never launched a business of his own, Stephen found his greatest fulfillment in helping his three children, Michaela, Patrick, and Joseph, pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. South County Youth Soccer Club is an important part of the fabric of our community. For a generation or more, through the Club’s competitive (“travel”) teams and recreational (“rec”) teams, soccer skills have been developed, values like sportsmanship and teamwork have been fostered, and friendships have been formed between players, coaches, and families. Central to the Club’s success was always Shirley Testa, who for more than twenty-two years - up to her retirement in 2021 - served the Club in multiple roles, including as its Registrar and Office Manager. 

To honor Shirley’s time and dedication to SCYSC, the Board of Directors renamed its annual scholarship to the: SCYSC Shirley Testa College Scholarship. In addition to SCYSC typical criteria for scholarship winner(s) selection: (your time with SCYSC and playing soccer, volunteerism) we also seek candidates who exhibit similar behaviors and characteristics that Shirley demonstrated and were important to her while she was with the Club.

The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America in Loggia Piave 364 Sons and Daughters of Italy is pleased to announce that the annual Columbian Scholarship Awards will be presented at the Columbus Day Dinner in October of 2026 and St. Joseph's Day Dinner in March of 2027. 

The Columbian Awards are presented to a high school senior male and female for achieving excellence in both academics and athletics. The Award is $1,000.00 each and there are six of these awards. 

The qualifications are as follows:
1. The student must be a senior. 
2. The student must have an Italian surname; if not, maternal or paternal grandparents have to. 
3. Be of Italian descent, and so noted on the application. 
4. The student must be an outstanding scholar athlete.
