URI Narragansett Indian Undergraduate Scholarship

URI is excited to announce the creation of the Narragansett Indian Undergraduate Scholarship for students of Narragansett Indian ancestry who have been accepted to a URI undergraduate program. This scholarship provides full, in-state tuition and fees for up to four years, as well as an additional grant of up to $5,000 based on full-time enrollment. 

Eligibility Criteria

In addition to being accepted into an undergraduate degree program, students must have:

  • A tribal enrollment identification card or an official letter from the tribal administration that confirms membership through a direct family member (parent).
  • An official FAFSA on file and all verification requirements completed.

The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Currently enrolled in a high school studying math, science, and technology
  • Considering a career in a transportation-related field

The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific goals, academic record and interest in transportation.

The Rhode Chapter is offering a high school scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The recipient’s application is then forwarded to the WTS Foundation to be considered for the WTS Transportation YOU High School Scholarship in the amount of $2,500.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship perpetuates the memory of Jackie Robinson by providing generous four-year scholarships and comprehensive support services to highly motivated college students with financial needs to ensure their success and further develop their leadership potential.

To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a graduating, minority high school senior
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Present evidence of financial need
  • Demonstrate a record of academic excellence
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and a dedication to community service
  • Plan to attend a four-year college/university within the United States or affiliated with a United States-based college or university
  • Have not accrued more than 25% of credits needed to graduate from college.

US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship

Each year, the USJCI Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors 
who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary college, university or career/technical school. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and

Elks National Foundation Legacy Scholarship

Who is Eligible?
1.   Are you the child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2019, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2019? Your Elk sponsor must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2022. Great-grandchildren are not eligible. If your parent and grandparent are both Elk members, you should apply through the parent's Elks Lodge.

RI Army National Guard Scholarship

The RI National Guard Minuteman Scholarship requires membership in the Rhode Island Army National Guard, but can cover full tuition/fees or room and board (10K cap), $1,200 book stipend, $420 monthly ROTC Cadet stipend, $338-$480 per month drill pay, and more. 

Scholarship recipients serve in the Rhode Island Army National Guard while also attending college as an ROTC cadet, upon graduation they are commissioned as Second Lieutenants.

Scholarship Details This $2,500 scholarship is a way for Redfin to help one student on his or her journey through higher education. We are looking forward to reading each submission! To apply, in 800 words or less, answer the following question: "When the population of a city grows, low-income people are often forced to move to more affordable areas outside of the city. Many initiatives have been proposed or implemented to keep affordable housing within city limits. Identify one such initiative and discuss its pros and cons."
