URI Narragansett Indian Undergraduate Scholarship

URI is excited to announce the creation of the Narragansett Indian Undergraduate Scholarship for students of Narragansett Indian ancestry who have been accepted to a URI undergraduate program. This scholarship provides full, in-state tuition and fees for up to four years, as well as an additional grant of up to $5,000 based on full-time enrollment. 

Eligibility Criteria

In addition to being accepted into an undergraduate degree program, students must have:

  • A tribal enrollment identification card or an official letter from the tribal administration that confirms membership through a direct family member (parent).
  • An official FAFSA on file and all verification requirements completed.

Southern RI Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce is awarding scholarships to high school seniors in Southern Rhode Island in recognition of academic excellence and community service. All applications need to be submitted to Southern RI Chamber of Commerce by midnight on June 9, 2023. The winners will be announced in late June. Each applicant must have a Chamber member sponsor. Chamber members can sponsor only one applicant.

RISLA Knowledge for College Scholarship

DUE:  Monthly through May 1 (every year)

General Information:

  • RI resident, high school seniors can enter just by answering 3 multiple choice financial literacy questions once per month 
  • 3 winners of $2,000 each will be randomly selected on the first day of the following month starting May 1 through April 30 of the following year.
  • Note: Students can win only once per academic year, therefore the student winners chosen in May have no need to re-enter for the remainder of monthly drawings
  • Students who enter all 12 months consecutively during May through April but did not win are qualified for the bonus drawing also held in May for two additional winner. We will be awarding scholarships to 50 students, totaling $100,000.

RI Army National Guard Scholarship

The RI National Guard Minuteman Scholarship requires membership in the Rhode Island Army National Guard, but can cover full tuition/fees or room and board (10K cap), $1,200 book stipend, $420 monthly ROTC Cadet stipend, $338-$480 per month drill pay, and more. 

Scholarship recipients serve in the Rhode Island Army National Guard while also attending college as an ROTC cadet, upon graduation they are commissioned as Second Lieutenants.

The Rhode Island Foundation, the largest and most comprehensive funder of nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island, manages more than 150 scholarship and fellowship funds. We offer assistance for middle school to post-graduate levels, certificate programs, and a variety of fields of study and interest areas.

Dozens of generous individual, family, and organizational donors have established scholarship funds with us to help students like you defray educational expenses such as tuition, fees, and books.

Affordable Colleges Online, an organization dedicated to providing free higher education tools for current and future college students and their families, recently published research on all the not-for-profit universities and colleges in Rhode Island that offer online college programs. Historically, online programs have only been offered by for-profit institutions. Scholarship Details This $2,500 scholarship is a way for Redfin to help one student on his or her journey through higher education. We are looking forward to reading each submission! To apply, in 800 words or less, answer the following question: "When the population of a city grows, low-income people are often forced to move to more affordable areas outside of the city. Many initiatives have been proposed or implemented to keep affordable housing within city limits. Identify one such initiative and discuss its pros and cons."

How to Apply The scholarship application period will occur twice yearly with awards delegated in both the Spring and Fall. The Spring application period is from November 1-January 31 of each year. The Fall application period is from May 1-July 31 of each year. Complete the following form within the designated application periods.
