Created in memory of BURGER KING® Co-founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, the BURGER KINGScholars program has awarded $35 million in scholarships to more than 33,000 high school students, BK® employees and their families across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico since 2000. In 2018 alone, the Foundation awarded $3.7 million to more than 3,400 students in North America.

Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000 and are intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities and community service.

The application period for the 2020-2021 school year begins on Oct. 15, 2019 and closes Dec. 15, 2019.

URI Cultivating Change: Multicultural Scholars Program

DUE DATE:  January 1, 2020

A new, $6,500 annual scholarship for someone with a strong interest in pursuing a career as a food or agricultural professional or scientist should apply. Students may enroll in undergraduate programs including Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems, Animal Science & Technology, Aquaculture & Fisheries Science, Cell and Molecular Biology, Environmental Science & Management, Marine Affairs, and Plant Sciences.   Majoring (as a single or double major) or minoring in Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems will be required of all Scholars.

Eligible candidates 1) have been (or will be) accepted for the fall 2020 undergraduate class, 2) are U.S. citizens/permanent residents, 3) have not been previously enrolled in a bachelor’s program in the agricultural or related sciences, and 4) are from a group underrepresented in those sciences.

Merit Scholarships at Gettysburg College

Eisenhower Scholarship–designed to recognize outstanding applicants who are positively transforming their communities. The College has a long history of civic engagement with students and alumni making a difference in their communities and around the world.

The Eisenhower Scholarship is Gettysburg College's most selective scholarship–$160,000 for four years of full-time study ($40,000 per year). It is awarded to top-performing applicants within a most challenging curriculum who have demonstrated a high level of civic engagement locally, nationally, and/or internationally. Additionally, Gettysburg College recognizes students' academic achievement in high school by awarding four categories of academic merit scholarships under Early Decision and Regular Decision.
  • Abraham Lincoln Scholarship–$32,000 per year
  • Presidential Scholarship–$27,000 per year
  • David Wills Scholarship –$24,000 per year
  • 1832 Founders Scholarship–$15,000 per year

Decisions on merit scholarship recipients are made as part of the admissions process. A separate application is not required. All students, including those who apply test optional, are considered.

John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest

The Profile in Courage Essay Contest deadline is January 17, 2020.  The contest is open to high school students in grades nine through twelve.

 The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation invites U.S. high school students to describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born.

 The first-place winner receives $10,000. Second-place receives $3,000. Five finalists receive $1,000 each. Eight semifinalists receive $100 each. Ten students receive honorable mention.

US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship

Each year (April) $1,000 grants will be awarded to graduating high school 
seniors in the United States, who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. The number of grants awarded annually will be at the discretion of the United States JCI Senate Foundation. The monies must be usedfor educational expenses in the first year of full-time study. Checks awarded will be made out in the name of the recipient and the educational institution of their choice.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) Scholarship program addresses the financial needs of college students and provides extensive, hands-on mentoring and support services. 

To be eligible for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship, an applicant must:

  • Be a graduating, minority high school senior
  • Plan to attend an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States
  • Show leadership potential
  • Demonstrate a dedication to community service
  • Present evidence of financial need
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21
  • Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4-year college when applying for the scholarship

2020 New England Red Sox Service Scholarship Program
 will be awarding a on-time $1,000 scholarship to graduating high school seniors attending each of the 44 public high schools selected based on 1) Demonstrated Community Service, 2) Academic Performance and 3) Eligibility for Financial Aid. RISLA Financial Literacy Scholarship

Beginning October 1st, RISLA will be launching a new scholarship for students. This scholarship centers around the goal of providing financial literacy awareness to students and families. They have incorporated financial literacy information and tips into a new, fun scholarship quiz for students to enter into our monthly drawings. Two $2,000 winners will be drawn each month and scholarships will be awarded in May co-payable to the student and the school they will be attending.

How it works: Each month eligible students can visit the new scholarship page to read quick tips and answer three multiple choice questions regarding paying for college, budgeting, and more. Completion of the short quiz qualifies entry into our scholarship monthly drawing. Students are encouraged to enter monthly to increase their chances to win and learn more by reading new tips and answering new questions posted on the 1st of each month. Students can enter once per month, but can only win once per year.
